Fragrance load refers to the percentage of fragrance oil that a wax can safely and effectively hold. Each wax type has a maximum threshold. Exceed that limit, and performance begins to suffer. Issues such as sweating, oil separation, surface pooling, or excessive smoke can occur. In short, more fragrance does not automatically mean better performance.
Many paraffin and soy waxes have lower capacities - often between 5% and 10%. Push beyond that, and the wax becomes oversaturated. This is one reason why some cheaper melts smell intense at first but fade quickly after a short period of use. Why Coconut Wax Performs Differently
Coconut wax is a soft, creamy natural wax known for excellent fragrance retention. It can typically hold up to 12% fragrance load depending on oil type and formulation. This allows scent molecules to bind more effectively within the wax structure, releasing fragrance gradually and evenly.
